The method for producing a carrier element in a mine shaft (2) for the filler material (8) involves use of an inflatable bag (4) which in its inflated state engages with the shaft wall to produce a plug (7) for the shaft filler material. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for implementing the method comprising an inflatable bag, material serving for inflation of the bag, and means for delivering this material into the bag.
