The synchronization detection device detects the start point of a fast Fourier transformation window within a reception signal by decimation of received complex data sample values by a decimation number dependent on the transmission mode and correlation between the decimated values and delayed data values, with summation of the difference values and subsequent interpolation, for detection of the symbol timing synchronization position from the interpolated values.
