A determination unit (31) determines stroke command value from unstability monitoring information and detected cooling mode. A stroke controller (33) outputs a timer command when stroke command value is in accord with stroke value estimated by estimator (32). The timer (35) provides a gate driving signal based on output of stroke controller on receiving zero cross-signal from detector (34). A cooling mode determination unit (37) determines the cooling mode from temperature information, and estimator (32) outputs a stroke value and current information according to stroke voltage supplied to linear oscillating motor. The monitor (36) checks the unstability of linear compressor by monitoring the estimated stroke value, current information and cooling mode. Detector (34) outputs a zero cross signal to timer when voltage waveform (V0,V4) crosses the zero point. An Independent claim is also included for linear compressor control procedure.
