The clutch has an electromagnetic winding (2) incorporated in a rotor (1) and energized for selectively coupling an armature (8) with the rotor, via a slip ring (19,20) and a cooperating current brush (22,23). A diode (32) is associated with the slip ring carrier (18) or the brush carrier (24), for absorbing induced overvoltages.
