The current limiter has two inductances/chokes (1,2) connected in series and two controlled valves (3,4), e.g. thyristors, in series with each other and in parallel with the series inductances and with opposed conducting directions. The junction between the valves is connected to the junction between the inductances. The current limiter triggers itself in the event of a fault if a defined current threshold is exceeded and changes from the conducting state to the blocking state, in which it remains.
