Procedure has the following steps: provision of a laser test beam that has had its bandwidth narrowed using an in-built spectral line narrower or wavelength selection module; guidance of the test beam towards a test module (33); measurement of test beam parameters after it has passed through the test module where the parameters are used to determine the quality of optical components in the module. Independent claims are made for a system for determination of the quality of components in a test module and a device for testing the quality of a line narrowing or wavelength selection module in a laser with in-built line or bandwidth narrowing.
