This wall and/or ceiling coating is intended on the one hand to prevent fungal infestation (mould) and bacterial infection of the wall and/or ceiling surfaces and on the other hand to be such that it does not give off active substances to the surrounding air. For this purpose the wall and/or ceiling coating contains a composition which comprises NaOH, KOH and gum arabic.
