Device for catalytic gas phase reactions comprises reactor and gas inlet areas equipped with flow rectifiers. It has two flow rectifiers in the gas flow direction before the catalyst, where the first flow rectifier (1) in the gas flow direction is in the gas inlet area (3) and the second flow rectifier (2) is in the reactor inlet (4). Also claimed is the use of device described above: (i) in a process to catalytically remove nitrogen oxides from exhaust gases, possibly flue gases from large furnaces; (ii) to catalytically remove nitrogen oxides from exhaust gases; (iii) in a process to catalytically remove polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans from exhaust gases, possibly flue gases from waste incinerators; and (iv) to catalytically remove polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans from exhaust gases. The first flow rectifier (1) in the gas flow direction lies at 50-90 deg to the second (2), which may be arranged vertically to the reactor axis. The first rectifier (1) may be in the opposite gas flow direction at up to 0.1 times the width of the gas inlet channel from the nearest point (5) on the section line between the reactor (4) and gas inlet area (3), and the second rectifier (2) may be in the gas flow direction at up to 0.1 times the width of the reactor from the nearest point (7) on the section line between reactor (4) and gas inlet area (3). The rectifiers (1,2) may meet at a point on the section line between reactor (4) and gas inlet area (3), as may their plane surfaces, and have a lattice or fin formation. The rectifiers (1,2) take up either partially or wholly the gas inlet area (3) and reactor (4) cross-sections, respectively.
