PURPOSE: To improve a polishing capacity by acting a polishing effect not only on side faces but on upper and back surfaces as well in such a manner that grains move into and out of spacings which constitute wind ejecting grooves formed between polishing rolls at the time of polishing the grains by the polishing effect of the grinding and polishing rolls rotating in a polishing chamber. ;CONSTITUTION: Raw material rice grains flow down evenly along the slope of a guide body 29 and are further fed into the polishing chamber 37 by a spiral roll 26 when these rice grains are supplied to a rice grain supply port 34. The rice grains entering the polishing chamber 37 are spilled at the peripheral edge of a grinding and polishing roll 18 which rotates. The rice grains are simultaneously rolled along a bran removing cylinder 36 while the rice grains are kept agitated by resistance bars 47. The surface layer parts are cut by the abrasive grains in the side face parts of a grinding section 58 during this time. The rice grains simultaneously enter the spacings which constitute the wind ejecting grooves 25, rotate and revolve in the spacings and come into polyhedral contact with the upper and back surfaces of the grinding section 58, by which the surface layer parts are ground off.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
