Use of benzhydrylsulphinylalkanoamide derivatives of formula (Ar)2CH-SO-(CH2)n-CONHR (I) to manufacture medicaments for counteracting drug-induced somnolence is new. Ar = phenyl (optionally substituted by F, Cl, Br, CF3, NO2, NH2, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy and/or methylenedioxy); R = H, OH, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C hydroxyalkyl or -Y-N(R1)(R2); Y = linear or branched 1-4C hydrocarbylene; R1 and R2 are not defined; n = 1-3.
