Bifunctional hydrocracking catalyst based on a non-globally dealuminized zeolite and a mixed sulfide phase enables greater control of the activity and selectivity of hydrocracking ensuring a greater flexibility of charges to be treated and products obtained. The catalyst comprises a non-globally dealuminized zeolite Y of which the lattice parameter is greater than 2.438 nm and SiO2/Al2O3 global is less than 8, a mineral matrix and a mixed sulfide phase comprising S with groups VB and VIB elements. Optionally group VIII, B, Si or P, and group VIIA elements are included. An Independent claim is also included for the process for the preparation of the catalyst.
