The crusher with vertical axis includes a rotor (not visible) of conical-cylindrical form in a stator in two sections of differing conicity. That of the upper section is greater than that of the lower. Preferred features: Walls of central and lower sections of the stator are parallel to those of the rotor, defining three sections: an upper, open-cone material inlet; a central region where stator and rotor have the same conicity and a lower region where stator and rotor are cylindrical. The rotor has helical projections. Their pitch varies in the first section, such that the turns become closer and closer together. The form is that of an Archimedian screw. The projections are separate knives. They are followed by a continuous surface. Sizes of the projections progressively reduce in the upper part. Conicity there, is irregular in the sense that spacing between stator and rotor walls is greater in one location than in another. In the narrowest passage, there are obstacles on the internal wall of the stator. The upper part of the stator is polygonal. Heaters are located on the lower cylindrical part of the stator. Additional heating is applied in the central zone. A thread is located at the lower end of the cylindrical section, with knives further downstream.
