The heat exchanger, comprising parallel plates forming chambers for exchanging heat between primary and secondary fluids as they pass between inlets and outlets, has an integral three-way valve connected to a primary fluid main inlet or outlet port (61), to an aperture (62) linked to the primary fluid flow duct and to an adjacent port (60) in the same end plate as the inlet/outlet (61). The two ports (60, 61) are connected by a channel (6) embossed in the end plate, and the valve has a shutter (71) in the form of an axially-moving disc-shaped piston which is able to close the the flow duct or the port (60) selectively. The valve can be electrically or hydraulically controlled.
