A numerically controlled machine of which the control shaft is controlled in response to a pulse signal generated from a manual pulse generator depending on the amount of rotation of a manual handle to feed wherein at least one of the amount of movement, target position and range of movement of the control shaft is set and stored, the amount of movement or position of the control shaft is monitored during the feeding motion, and when the amount of movement or position of the control shaft while the handle is being fed reaches the stored set movement, target position, or limit position of the range of movement, subsequent pulse signals from manual pulse generator are made ineffective so that the movement or position of the control shift does not exceed the stored set movement, target position, or range of movement during the feeding of the handle. The number of pulses per interpolation period of the pulse signal generated from the manual pulse generator is divided equally into n (n is an integer of 2 or more) every interpolation period. The equally divided number of pulses are distributed to the interpolation period at the time of inputting the pulse signal and subsequent (n-1) interpolation periods, thus imparting acceleration/deceleration characteristics to the handle feeding.
