PURPOSE: To provide inexpensive potassium titanate whisker excellent as a reinforcing material. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective potassium titanate whisker is potassium titanate whisker having a layer structure comprising K₂O.6TiO₂.nH₂O and K₂O.9 TiO₂.nH₂O and has X-ray diffraction lines at about 10.3-10.7° (2θ) and about 11.1-11.5° (2θ) at 0.05-0.3 ratio of the intensity of the former to that of the latter and ≥0.6 molar ratio of Al₂O₃/Nb₂O₅ content of the aluminum and niobium as impurities.
