PURPOSE: To provide a low-cost light-weight reinforcing material which can be applied between non-parallel surface materials or to an uneven or curved surface material and has a light weight and a high strength in any direction and a light-weight structure using the same and a method for manufacturing the same. ;CONSTITUTION: A light-weight reinforcing material 3 of an open-cell type has permeability and is covered mainly at its skeleton with curable resin. A light- weight structure has a surface material 2 at least on one side of the material 3. A method for manufacturing the material 3 comprises the steps of impregnating the material 3 with uncured resin to cover a skeleton of the material with the curable resin, laminating the reinforcing material on the surface material or holding the reinforcing material impregnated with the resin between opposed surface materials laminated, and curing the curable resin.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
