PURPOSE: To obtain antidemential agent having strong learning ability and dementia-preventing and treating effects by containing one or more kinds of metabolism of 12 lipoxygenase from docosahexaenoic acid or its salt, ester and amide as an active ingredient. ;CONSTITUTION: A composition containing one or more kinds of 12-lipoxygenase metabolism from docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) or its salt, ester amide, especially 10-hydroxy-13,14-epoxydocosatetraenoic acid, 12-hydroxy-13.14-epoxydocosatetraenoic acid, 10.13.14-trihydroxydocosatetraenoic acid and 12.13.14-trihydroxydocosatetraenoic acid or these derivatives as active ingredients and useful for treatment or prevention of dementia disease. Further, the composition is prepared as necessary together with other preparation by 2 pharmacologically permissible diluent or carrier so that the composition is administered in an amount of 0.01-1000mg/day to provide antidemential agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
