PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure superior fire resistance by using specified amts. of an inorg. binder contg. hydraulic cement, an endothermic material, inorg. lightweight aggregate and org. lightweight aggregate. ;SOLUTION: An inorg. binder contg. hydraulic cement such as Portland cement and air-setting cement such as gypsum is prepd. by 100 pts.wt. and blended with 15-50 pts.wt. endothermic material such as Al(OH)3 or boehmite, 10-200 pts.wt. inorg. lightweight aggregate such as expanded vermiculite or perlite and 2-20 pts.wt. org. light-weight aggregate made of granular foam having about 0.3-2.5mm diameter such as PS or PVC foam. Proper amts. of a filler such as fire clay, a cracking inhibitor such as glass fibers, a separation inhibitor such as a synthetic resin emulsion and water and added to the resultant blend if necessary and they are mixed to obtain the objective fireproof coating material made of hardenable mortar. This coating material is mixed with a proper amt. of water, applied to the surface of a steel structure and hardened to obtain the objective fireproof coated structure having a fireproof coating layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
