PURPOSE: To readily produce a paper tape containing hardly slit fiber from base paper for the paper tape containing the hardly slit fiber. ;CONSTITUTION: This base paper for tape paper containing hardly slit fiber is obtained by dispersing 80 pts. p-aramid fiber which is the hardly slit fiber (Kevlar 29(R) manufactured by E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co.), 20 pts. m-aramid fibrid (Apyeil Fibrid(R) manufactured by Unitika, Ltd.) and 0.5 pt. solid content of a polyamide epoxy-based wet strengthening agent in small amounts of a dispersing agent, a defoaming agent and water, providing a slurry, forming paper therefrom in a cylinder paper machine, applying many fluids at a regular interval to the formed wet web just before transferring the wet web from the cylinder to a wet felt, forming thin-wall parts at 5mm pitch parallel in the longitudinal direction and providing p-aramid paper having 100g/cm2 basis weight. This paper tape is prepared by further carrying out the heat treatment under pressure with a calender roll at 230°C, slitting the resultant paper with a slitter of an upper blade and a receiving blade combined at 5mm interval so as to bring the blades into contact with the thin-wall parts. Although fluff is formed in the slit surfaces, the obtained paper tape has 3mm width and 0.9kg/tape width tensile strength.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
