PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new useful compound having excellent practicality as an organic nonlinear optical material having a high secondary nonlinear optical activity, capable of forming a stable organic crystal.;SOLUTION: This pyridinium derivative is represented by general formula (I) (R1, R2 and R3 are each an alkyl group or a substituted alkyl group; X- is an anionic group).
