PURPOSE: To obtain the material enhanced in second harmonic generation(SHG) activity and not having an absorption in the SHG region by incorporating a specified compd. into the material. ;CONSTITUTION: The subject material consists of a compd. shown by formula I. In formula I, X₁ and X₂ are the atom or atomic group selected from a group consisting of the groups shown by formula II and can be different from each other. In formula II, R is 1-8C alkyls or aryls, and R can be hydrogen when at least one between X₁ and X₂ is not a C-R group. Y is an atomic group having a π electron conjugated system shown by formula III, and A,...D are hydrogen or an org. substituent. The R in formula II is 1-8C alkyls or aryls, and the 1-8C alkyls are the saturated hydrocarbon groups represented by methyl, isobutyl, etc., the saturated hydrocarbon group having a closed ring structure represented by cyclopropyl, etc.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
