PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a countermeasure to a year 2000 problem without changing the data length of date data by encoding the upper two digits of a year and assigning it to a 1/2 byte area which is not used at present in date data in a pack system constituted of 4 bytes. ;SOLUTION: In 4 byte date data in a pack system constituted of 8 pieces of 1/2 byte areas 1A-4B, a positive and negative code are assigned to the area 1A, the first position number of the date is assigned to the area 1B, the second position number of the date is assigned to the area 2A, the first position number of the month is assigned to the area 2B, the second position number of the month is assigned to the area 3A, the first position number of the Christian Era is assigned to the area 3B, the second position number of the christian Era is assigned to the area 4A, and a number obtained by encoding the upper two digits of the year is assigned to the area 4B.
