PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly predict breakout with high accuracy. ;SOLUTION: In the predicting method of the breakout by monitoring the measured temperature value at each position with plural temperature detecting means embedded into a mold 1 in a continuous casting facility, a space constituted of the measured temperature value series (q) and the differential value series (p) is made to be S and respective time series values of the measured temperature value series (q) and the differential value series (p) introduced from the measured temperature values with the temperature detecting means, are made to q (t) and p (t), and the vector is made to be H (t)=(q (t), p (t)). A range A, which does not induce the breakout on the space S, is pre-regulated, and a range B, which induces the constricted breakout on the space S, is pre- regulated, and then, an orbit of the vector H (t) while passing through or after passing through the inner part of the range B from the range A with the lapse of time is judged as the constricted breakout state.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
