PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new mutated strain of Rhodobacter spaeroides RV used for a hydrogen production, having an improved efficiency in a photoproduction of hydrogen, not capable of exhibiting a hydrogenase uptake activity and imparted with a deposit number CBS100805. ;SOLUTION: This uptake type hydrogenase-lacking strain of Rhodobacter spaeroides is a new mutated strain of Rhodobacter spaeroicies RV, incapable of exhibiting a hydrogenase uptake activity, imparted with a deposit number CBS100805, having an improved efficiency in the photoproduction of hydrogen and used for a fermentation method, etc. for producing hydrogen.
