PURPOSE: To promptly respond to the change in the water quality of raw water, automate an apparatus and enhance the reliability of the apparatus by optimizing a chemical injection ratio necessary to get an objective flock particle diameter to obtain good water quality. ;CONSTITUTION: An apparatus is equipped with, besides an agitation vessel 8, a quantitative raw water supply part 9, an agitator 10, a pH control part 11, a water discharge part 12, a measuring part 13, and a coagulant injection part 14 as main units. The raw water supply part 9 and the agitation vessel 8 are connected by a raw water supply pipe 17, in which an alkli injection port 17a and a chemical injection port 17b are formed. The size of flocks produced in the agitation vessel 8 is measured by the measuring part 13, and the data are output to a computer 24 to be compared with a preset particle diameter. A coagulant is sent to the quantitative injection pump of the coagulant injection part 14 and injected from the chemical injection port 17b of the raw water supply pipe 17.
