PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient vibration-control working regardless of the magnitude of the amplitude of a cable-stayed bridge cable.;SOLUTION: In the vibration control device 1 for the cable-stayed bridge cable, an expansion-contraction mechanism 2 as an expansion limiting mechanism is interposed between the cable-stayed bridge cable 3 and a girder 7 tensed and supported by the cable-stayed bridge cable. Overall length is varied by mutually rotating connecting elements 4a, 4b while the mutual connecting angles of each connecting element 4a, 4b reach 180°-that is, length at a time when each connecting element 4 is arranged on a straight line reaches set maximum length, and forced deformation in the expansion direction which exceeds set maximum length is constrained in the expansion-contraction mechanism 2 in this case. Such set maximum length is set previously so that the increase of the self-oscillation of the cable-stayed bridge cable 3 is inhibited.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
