PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a trouble or a fault of a flow sensor provided at a circulating passage in a water heater with instantaneous hot water supplying function. ;SOLUTION: The water heater with an instantaneous hot water supplying function comprises a circulating pump at a circulating passage for heat insulating warm water, a circulating flow sensor for detecting a circulating flow at the suction side of the pump, and a boiler flow sensor for detecting a boiler flow rate flowing to a heat exchanger at the discharge side of the pump. The method for detecting a fault of the water heater comprises the steps of operating the pump (S23), judging the normal operation of the pump if the detected value of the circulating sensor becomes a predetermined flow rate Qc or more within a predetermined time T1 s (S24, S25), and then judging a fault or a trouble of any flow sensor (S29), if the detected value of the boiler sensor does not exceed an MOQ flow rate Qk within a predetermined time t2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
