PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously realize the light condition close to the natural light and facilitate the alteration of the size of the plant-growing apparatus. ;SOLUTION: The horizontal type metal halide lam 11 is made a unit structure with the case 16 and a plurality of them are set to the ceiling 21a of the plant growing chamber in parallel so that additional units may readily set. The light quantity of the lamps is controlled to a certain level with the time by detecting the illumination with an illumination sensor 13. The inside of the lamp unit is efficiently ventilated with the blower 16b. Thus, metal halide lamps of large capacity can be applied to attain the illumination comparable to the natural light whereby plants can be continuously cultured under favorite conditions and the lamp units can be readily increased.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
