PURPOSE:To provide an extract free from offensive odor as is conventionally so-called soil or muddy odor even if incorporated with an aimed amount of Panax ginseng effective as a nutritive/tonic agent, and to provide a beverage containing this extract. CONSTITUTION:A purified Panax ginseng can be obtained by bringing a Panax ginseng extract obtained by water-soluble solvent extraction with activated carbon. The other objective beverage contains 0.01-10.0wt.%, on a drug basis, of the Panax ginseng purified above and is reduced in odor component content to = one-fifth the level before the purification.
