PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve responsiveness of a valve to control a flow rate and the direction of fluid by using a pyrrole high polymer film or fiber having a specific pyrrole unit, and extending/contracting or bending the film or the fiber in gas by absorption/desorption of a water molecule by electric stimulation. ;SOLUTION: A usable high polymer film (or fiber) is formed of a pyrrole high polymer film having at least a pyrrole unit by 50 mole % in a molecular chain, and the one on which a thickness of an original film falls within a range of 1 to 1000 μm, desirably, 10 to 100 μm, is used. The original film is used in a flat shape, a ring shape, a belt shape, a tubular shape or a columnar shape. An element such as an artificial valve, a chemical valve and a switch is formed by this extension/contraction by extending/contracting the original film by controlling absorption/desorption of a water molecule to such an original film. In this case, electric stimulation to be used is converted into a DC wave, an AC wave, a triangular wave and a rectangular wave, and is desirably set not more than 100 V.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
