PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceramic calcination product increased in the water pH- raising characteristic and the metal ion-adsorbing characteristic of tourmaline by mixing the powder of the tourmaline with the powder of smectite, molding the mixture and subsequently calcining the molded product. ;SOLUTION: Tourmaline powder having particle diameters of 10μm, smectite powder and a flier (e.g. zeolite) are mixed, molded and subsequently calcined at a temperature of ≤750°C to obtain the ceramic calclnation product capable of being used for the modification and purification of water. Therein, the fine tourmaline, the smectite and the fillet are preferably used in amounts of 8-25 pts.wt., 25-35 pts.wt. and 45-67 pts.wt., respectively, per 100 pts.wt. of the mixture.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
