PURPOSE: To facilitate the operation to array ≥2 pieces of bare optical fibers in parallel at the time of producing the optical fiber coupler by using clamps projectingly provided with plural pieces of pin-like projections. ;CONSTITUTION: Two pieces of the columnar pins 3 are parted at prescribed intervals and are fixed on a base 2 for slender pins. A vertical direction moving device 4, such as air cylinder, is connected to this base 2 for the pins. Further, a horizontal direction moving device 5, such as air cylinder, for moving this moving device 4 together in a horizontal direction is connected. Two pieces of the bare optical fibers 6, 6 are mated in parallel if the bare optical fibers 6 are held by using two sets of clamps 1 and the pins 3 are moved in the horizontal direction. The mated parts of two pieces of these bare fibers are fused and integrated by heating and are then stretched, by which the optical fiber coupler is produced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
