PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent high frequency characteristics at nonsinusoidal wave by providing a steel composition consisting of specified amounts of C, Si, Mn, S, acid-soluble Al, P, N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. ;SOLUTION: The nonoriented silicon steel sheet for electric car, excellent in workability, has a steel composition consisting of, by weight, ≤0.01% C, ≤3.0% Si, ≤2.0% Mn, ≤0.01% S, 1.0-3.0% acid-soluble Al, 0.005-0.1% P, ≤0.005% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. A slab with this steel composition is heated to ≤1,300°C and hot rolled and subjected to hot rolled plate annealing at 600-1,000°C or hot rolled and cold rolled to undergo finishing to 0.10-0.40 mm sheet thickness and ≤0.5 μm Ra surface roughness. Further, continuous annealing is done at 700-1,050°C to regulate surface Vickers hardness at 1 kg load to ≤250.
