PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beautiful silvery image recording material and a method for forming an image capable of easily forming a golden image having a metallic gloss by an ink jet recording method.;SOLUTION: The silvery image recording material is recorded with a metallic gloss surface on a recording medium visually recognizable through an ink acceptive layer. In this case, when reflectivities of a recorded part and a non- recorded part of a silvery image by a visible light of a visible range of a wavelength of 430 nm or less are compared, the reflectivity of the recorded part is smaller than that of the non-recorded part. The method for forming the silvery image comprises the step of forming the silvery image on the recording medium in which the metallic gloss surface can be visually recognizable through the ink acceptive layer by the ink jet method by using a silver colored ink in such a manner that a chromaticity of the silver colored ink, falls within -10 to 10 of a* and within -25 to -15 of b*, wherein a* and b* calculated from spectral transmittance of 2,000 times as diluted liquid as the ink are the chromaticities of the silver colored ink.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
