PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store a password and to reliably protect the security of the password by providing a program storage means stored with a password supply program for reading out and supplying the password to an application program. SOLUTION: A user inserts a PC card 40 stored with the password supply program into a PC card slot 16. A CPU 12 reads the application program out of a hard disk 14, executes it and displays a user authentication dialog which operates in accordance with the application program and performs user authentication of the application program on a monitor. Through user's key operation, the CPU 12 displays PIN(private identification number) on an input screen. Then the CPU 12 performs user authentication by using the inputted PIN to judge whether the user is legitimate for the password supply program, and displays a password registration dialog.
