PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tag device for a managing system of article to be searched for, which can surely search for an article to be searched for, without incurring an increase in size and cost, and an increase in power consumption. ;SOLUTION: Files in a storage rack are attached to thereto with tag devices, respectively. A tag control part 20 in each tag device, is incorporated therein with an non-volatile read-only memory part 42 composed of a mask ROM, EPROM and the like, and inherent identification codes are stored in the memory part 42a. The tag control part 20 receives an identification code response instruction signal from a predetermined managing device through the intermediary of a photo-electric element 35, and causes an information transmitting light- emitting device 48 to transmit a signal containing an inherent identification code. The managing device side prepares management data in which the identification code allotted to the tag device is related to specific information (a name of a book or the like) of a file in accordance with an identification code contained in the signal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
