PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a very convenient method for managing lost articles using a network.;SOLUTION: An identification information issuing server 11 and a lost article information management server 12 are constructed in a lost article management system 1. The server 11 issues an identification number to be assigned to a product, and a password used for management which is not assigned to the product. If the product found is carried to the office of a service provider and the identification number assigned to the product is inputted, the server 12 answers whether or not there is a report of the loss of the product, together with the password; if the purchaser of the product has inputted the password and asked if the product has been found, the server 12 answers whether or not there is a report of the acquisition of the product, which is delivered from the office, together with the identification number.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
