PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new absolute asymmetric synthesis by irritation with a circularly polarized light, capable of concentrating one of a mixture such as an enantiomer, etc., both in a starting substance and a formed substance. ;SOLUTION: In a photochemically reversible reaction system being a reaction system in which a starting substance is a mixture of mutual enantiomers or mutual diastereomers and no mutual transformation of the mutual enantiomers and the mutual diastereomers photochemically or thermally occurs, the reaction system is irradiated with an r- or l-circularly polarized light. Consequently only the starting substance or both the starting substance and the formed substance are excited, one of the enantiomers or one of the diastereomers is concentrated in the case of the starting substance and one of the enantiomers or one of the diastereomers corresponding to the other enantiomer or diastereomer nonconcentrated in the starting substance in the case of the formed substance.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
