Forced cooling cryostat null for large-sized infrared ray focal plane array

PURPOSE: To provide a performance-improved cryostat assembly having quick cooling ability to cool a detector of relatively large area. ;CONSTITUTION: This is a double Joule-Thomson cryostat assembly 10 provided with the first and second cryostats 100, 102 arranged concentrically inside a cold well of a detector assembly 12. The respective cryostats 100, 102 are communicated with a supply source for a high pressure gas injected into the cold well. The high pressure gas is ejected toward a component to be cooled, and a relatively high film coefficient is provided by a relatively high flow-out speed to maximize heat exchange. Both of the inside and outside cryostats 100, 102 are designed to make the high pressure gas be directed to an electromagnetic wave detector 26. The inside cryostat 102 is designed to be directed to the high pressure gas so as to cool a cold shield 50 surrounding the detector 26.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
