PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-caloric gas at a low cost while preventing the generation of NOx by converting carbon dioxide gas in blast furnace gas into methane using ammonia as a hydrogen source. SOLUTION: The objective method for producing methane from blast furnace gas using ammonia consists of the former stage comprising the contact of a gaseous mixture of ammonia and blast furnace gas with a catalyst containing a metal or compound of at least one kind of element selected from iron-group elements and chromium-group elements and the latter stage comprising the contact with a catalyst containing a metal or compound of at least one kind of element selected from copper-group elements, iron-group elements, chromium- group elements, platinum-group elements and rare earth elements.
