PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for lowering cholesterol, capable of reducing a daily dosage, having an inhibitory action on rise of blood cholesterol and inhibitory action on reduction of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and stronger in these effects.;SOLUTION: This composition having an inhibitory action on rise of cholesterol and an inhibitory action on reduction of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol comprises (1) at least one kind of a xanthine derivative, (2) at least one kind of dietary fiber, (3) at least one kind of an amino acid having an accelerating action on glucagon secretion and, if necessary, (4) at least one kind of vegetable protein. The composition has a high inhibitory action on rise of plasma cholesterol and is effective for diet, preventing and treating obesity and preventing and treating life habit diseases such as hyperlipemia, arteriosclerosis by the inhibitory effect on reduction of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
