PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-precision life forecast method during the design and service of ordinary asphalt pavement or other pavement applying Fe lime method designed by two- layer elastic theory or CBR-TA method by using multiple layer elastic theory. ;SOLUTION: Roadbed mean elastic coefficient Es' in two-layer elastic calculations approximate to the deflection of pavement surface in the multiple layer elastic calculations is determined and, based on this, half-infinite depth h2 of the roadbed is estimated. Then, by using semi-infinite depth, a ratio of influence quantity to mean elastic coefficient Es for 1 m roadbed R=Es/Es' is determined in two-layer elastic calculations by semi-infinite depth. Moreover, mean elastic coefficient Eeq' of the roadbed of 1 m is calculated by using the elastic coefficient of each layer of the roadbed multiplied by a ratio R. Then, the combinations of elastic coefficient of each layer where the number of allowable wheels loaded to the roadbed by destructive standard equation approximate to a predetermined value Ns is determined by repetitive multiple layer elastic calculations, then a horizontal tensile strain εt at the lower surface of the asphalt layer at that time, elastic coefficient Ea of an asphalt mixture layer, vertical compressive strain εz on the upper surface of road bed are respectively substituted in the destructive standard equation, and respective number of allowable loaded wheels is determined.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
