PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot-dip metal coated steel wire excellent in the corrosion resistance in a wire corrosive environment over the range from high chlorine concentration environment to low chlorine concentration environment. ;SOLUTION: A hot-dip Zn-Mg-Al base alloy coated steel wire has such pecuriarity that the hot-dip Zn-Mg-Al base alloy coating layer composed of 0.05-7 mass% Mg, 0.01-20 mass% Al and the balance Zn with inevitable impurities, is formed at 100-600 g/m2 stuck amount in terms of the Zn conversion and MgZn2 phase in the coating layer on the surface of the steel wire. Further, this coated steel wire has such peculiarity as to add 0.001-1 mass% Si in the Zn-Mg-Al base alloy coated layer. Furthermore, as the upper layer of this coating layer, a baking hardening type organic synthetic resin coating film layer is desirable to be provided and as the lower layer, galvanized layer containing Fe-Zn alloy layer may be provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
