ESCHERICHIA COLI CSRA GENE, PROTEIN ENCODED BY IT AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new protein comprising CsrA polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence, derived from Escherichia coli, and useful e.g. for the regulation of expression of a dowpstream metabolite through the ulation of the expression of CsrA gene and for the production of a bacterial product. SOLUTION: This protein is a new CsrA polypeptide comprising a polypeptide having the amino acid sequence of the formula or a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence where at least one amino acid deletion, substitution and/or addition has arisen in the amino acid sequence of the formula but still having CsrA activity, or its fragment. The protein is encoded by the CsrA gene of Escherichia coli and is useful for the regulation of expression of a downstream metabolite through the regulation of the expression of the CsrA gene and for the production of a bacterial product on its own or in relation to other mutation. The polypeptide is obtained by the expression of the gene, which is obtained through the cloning of chromosomes of Escherichia coli K-12, in an expression system.
