PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold long steel shells safely and reliably and to position them at assembly locations accurately in a limited narrow longitudinally oblong or transversely oblong space.;SOLUTION: This device is provided with a member supplying device to transfer long-side steel shells 7a and 7c and short-side steel shells inside from a space below a lining body 7, two movable swiveling devices 11A and 11B with swiveling table 59A and 59B to hold and freely rotate the steel shells 7b and 7c on their axes in parallel with their short-side parts, and two positioning devices capable of swiveling and moving member receiving bases which hold the steel shells. The steel shells 7b and 7c transferred in along the direction of a shield axis O by a member transferring device 9 are held at the swiveling tables 59A and 59B of the movable swiveling devices at the locations of center of gravity of the steel shells 7b and 7c, swiveled via the swiveling tables 59A and 59B while being elevated and lowered, delivered to the positioning devices, and moved and positioned at target locations by the positioning devices.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
