PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring an edge position especially of color transition and luminance transition within in a color image for making the edge positions obtained in the entire image and individual resolving colors excellently match at most. SOLUTION: For the measurement of the edge position, respective chromaticity values F are transformed to vector values OFi for which the specified point O of a color space F is an origin. Also, for the measurement of the edge position, by a method based on the vector values OFi, transition from a color FL on a left side to the color FR on a right side at an edge is measured along a preset scanning direction.
