PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oily ballpoint pen ink which causes no spreading nor vagueness of handwriting, prevents an ink leak, and can be written at low pressure, and to provide an oily ballpoint pen using the ink. ;SOLUTION: The oily ballpoint pen ink comprises a colorant, an organic solvent, a non-Newtonian viscous imparting agent, and a thickening agent consisting of only polyvinyl pyrrolidone of a weight-average molecular weight of about 40,000-100,000 as principal components, and a non-Newtonian viscosity index of the ink being 0.1≤ to 0.4 and its viscosity at a shear rate of 500 sec-1 being 1,000≤ to 3,000 mPa.s (20°C) and the viscosity at a shear rate of 0.19 sec-1 being 40,000≤ to ≤70,000 mPa.s (20°C), and the oily ballpoint pen is formed using the ink.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
