PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expanded polystyrene dissolving agent and an expanded polystyrene recycling system by carrying out solvent volume reduction treatment with the use of a regenerable and reusable solvent to give regenerated polystyrene as the reproduced resource at a low cost. SOLUTION: An expanded polystyrene dissolving agent is a hydrocarbon based solvent containing at least 76.8% 2-propoxy-ethanol and 19.0% 1- bromopropane, and an expanded polystyrene recycling system is constituted by effecting dissolution with a hydrocarbon based solvent having, as the major components, 76.8% 2-propoxyethanol and 19.0% 1-bromopropane at normal temperatures.
