PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscoelastic damper and an earthquake-resistant reinforcing structure with the viscoelastic damper, enhancing easy and inexpensive earthquake-resistant reinforcement of existing and new buildings. ;SOLUTION: This viscoelastic damper 3 comprises a triangular displacement plate 5 fixed to a column 1 constituting a column-beam mounting frame and protruded thereon, a triangular displacement plate 6 fixed to a beam 2 and protruded on the side of the displacement plate 5, and a viscoelastic body 7 filled between the displacement plates 5, 6. The displacement plates 5, 6 are formed by connecting a plurality of divided plates 5a, 6a to each other.
