PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and safely detecting the oil content leaked in a ballast tank of a double hull tanker at ballast filling time.;SOLUTION: For detecting the oil content in the ballast tank at ballast filling time, a hatch device having a diameter smaller than a manhole is arranged in a cover of the manhole of the ballast tank, an opening-closing cover is installed in the hatch device, a vessel with a string is inserted into the ballast tank from a hatch by opening the opening-closing cover, and a surface liquid of ballast water is scooped up to closely detect the oil content on an upper deck by means of visual observation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
